In 1971, art historian Dr. Ursula Krinzinger founded Galerie Krinzinger, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey in the art world. For over five decades, the gallery has been at the forefront of promoting national and international artists through a diverse range of exhibitions, encompassing solo showcases, group exhibitions, and thematic presentations.

The gallery's program is driven by two core interests. Firstly, Galerie Krinzinger has played a pivotal role in championing international performance and body-related art. This includes longstanding collaborations with renowned artists such as Marina Abramovic, whose groundbreaking work has been showcased since 1975, and Chris Burden, whose contributions have been celebrated since 1992. Secondly, the gallery has been deeply engaged with Viennese actionism, featuring pivotal figures like Rudolf Schwarzkogler, Günter Brus, Hermann Nitsch, and Otto Muehl since 1975. These artists, known for their provocative and boundary-pushing practices, have left an indelible mark on the art world.

In addition to these focal points, Galerie Krinzinger has nurtured enduring relationships with a wide range of national and international artists. Over the course of forty-five years, the gallery has collaborated with prominent figures such as Jonathan Meese, Gavin Turk, Eva Schlegel, Mark Wallinger, and Thomas Zipp, among others. These artists have brought their unique perspectives and artistic visions to the gallery, enriching its program with their creative prowess.

In recent years, Galerie Krinzinger has expanded its reach, embarking on a research journey in Asia and the Middle East. This exploration has resulted in the inclusion of artists like Kader Attia, Waqas Khan, Maha Malluh, Sudarshan Shetty, and Zhang Ding in the gallery's program. For over a decade, this thematic focus has been a prominent element, highlighting the gallery's commitment to showcasing art from diverse cultural backgrounds.
