El Apartamento

El Apartamento was established in 2015 with a keen interest in showcasing the most perceptive and compelling proposals within the current Cuban art scene. The project deliberately avoids limiting itself to a specific generation or approach to art. Instead, it seeks to encourage the coexistence of productions that may differ in their theoretical underpinnings and creative methodologies. This inclusive stance has enabled El Apartamento to bring together a diverse group of artists, ranging from those who came of age in the 1980s and 1990s to emerging talents who have recently graduated from the Higher Institute of Art (ISA).

As an independent art initiative that operates outside of the official circuit, El Apartamento aims to implement alternative modes of working that diverge from those of institutional spaces. Through its sustained collaboration with "critical" artists and its promotion of dialogues among various stakeholders in the local and international art worlds, including artists, curators, gallerists, and the public, El Apartamento is gradually carving out a distinctive position within the contemporary Cuban art scene.
