Meyer Riegger: History of Development

Meyer Riegger Gallery was founded in 1997 in Karlsruhe. Since its inception, the gallery has established itself as a platform to investigate diverse artistic practices, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, film, performance, and installation-based work. The gallery strives to focus on the world around us. Meyer Riegger creates shows and collaborates with artists who ask questions about our existence and explore important political and social topics.

The early program of the gallery was characterized by featuring artists whose work primarily addressed conceptual or abstract concerns. In the 2000s, the gallery sought to integrate into its program those artists for whom the existential issues of life and death, performance, and the human body play a crucial role.

In recent years, the gallery has experienced continuous growth and development, and its program has become more diverse. With the opening of its third location in Basel, Meyer Riegger solidifies its commitment to operating on both local and global scales.
