Knust Kunz Gallery Editions was established in 1982 under the name Galerie Sabine Knust. The gallery established enduring partnerships with renowned artists such as Georg Baselitz, Per Kirkeby, A.R. Penck, Markus Lüpertz, Jörg Immendorff, and Imi Knoebel, presenting their print and graphic works for over three decades. In 1998, Matthias Kunz joined as a partner in the gallery.

Throughout its 40-year history, the gallery gradually diversified its program, representing international artists from different generations and mediums today.

In addition to its main location near Odeonsplatz, KNUSTxKUNZ+ was inaugurated in Munich's Museums quarter in 2010. This second space is dedicated to emerging artists while also accommodating new edition projects and publications, expanding the opportunities for presentation and interaction.

In July 2021, Knust Kunz expanded its presence to Belgium, opening a third exhibition space in Knokke-Heist.
