Since its establishment in 1980 by Chantal Crousel, Galerie Chantal Crousel in Paris has been a significant force in showcasing the transformations of contemporary artistic production, both within France and abroad. Today, the gallery is directed by Chantal Crousel's son, Niklas Svennung.

Galerie Chantal Crousel: Celebrating Visionary Artists

Sensitive to the emergence of new artistic movements in Europe and the Americas at the end of the 1970s, Chantal Crousel surrounded herself with the new generation of artists and elaborated the artistic directions of the new gallery she established in rue Quincampoix, Paris.

The gallery becomes a platform for renowned artists like Tony Cragg, Bruce McLean, Alighiero Boetti, Gilbert & George, Walter Dahn, Georg Dokoupil, Jenny Holzer, Barbara Kruger, Richard Prince, Troy Brauntuch, Cindy Sherman, and many others, often showcasing their works in France for the first time. 

In the 1990s, as the sole owner and director of the gallery, Chantal Crousel organized the first exhibitions of Gabriel Orozco, Mona Hatoum, Absalon, Melik Ohanian, or Rirkrit Tiravanija.

Located on rue Charlot since 2005, the gallery reaffirms its dedication to fostering an artistic dialogue that is both evocative and mindful. It proudly represents the works of talented artists from around the world. Ranging from emerging talents to well-established figures, these artists frequently question the social space by employing new forms for innovative ideas.
